Abstract

The bulk water charging, one of the management tools of the State Policy for Water Resources, has been in operation in the State of Minas Gerais since 2010, when it was implemented in three state basins. Aiming to evaluate the water charging situation and the achievement of its objectives, this study used qualitative research techniques, and semi-structured interviews were applied to six representatives of entities that make up the State System for Water Resources Management. Overall, the results indicated that interviewed agree that the water charging partially meets their legal objectives, but that few advances have been made to improve them, so that in some aspects the legitimacy of the tool is questioned.
