OCCURRENCE OF THE GOLDEN MUSSEL (Limnoperna fortunei, Dunker 1857) IN THE CANAL DO SERTÃO, DELMIRO GOUVEIA-AL, BRAZIL

O Limnoperna fortunei, popularmente conhecido no Brasil como mexilhão-dourado, é um molusco bivalve nativo da China. A espécie vem se dispersando desde sua introdução no país na década de 90, região portuária de Porto Alegre, por outras bacias hidrográficas e se enquadra dentre as principais espécies invasoras de águas continentais. Tem por principal característica aderir e formar macroaglomerações em diferentes superfícies, preferencialmente as artificiais, causando obstruções em sistemas de filtração, resfriamento e passagem de água. Por outro lado, o Canal do Sertão é a segunda maior obra hídrica do Brasil e tem por objetivo levar a água do Rio São Francisco a mais de 40 municípios alagoanos a partir do seu sistema adutor localizado no reservatório da barragem de Moxotó em Delmiro Gouveia. Estudos recentes mostram a presença da espécie no baixo São Francisco. Esta pesquisa identificou a ocorrência da espécie no Canal do Sertão assim como iniciou o monitoramento e avaliou seus primeiros impactos na região do baixo São Francisco no sistema de adução de água bruta da estação elevatória e nas estrutura concreto armado do canal.
