Abstract

The new national legislation from 2020, update the sanitation legislation in Brazil with the objective to achieve the goals of the services until 2033. In relation to stormwater, a sanitations service, the legislation did not mention the overall goals.  Stormwater scenario in Brazil has many challenges which needs to be developed in an integrated and sustainable management. In this paper is presented an overview of the stormwater sector in the country, presenting the main issues and solutions considering the structure of institutional, technical, regulation, financing, planning and management of the services. This assessment is based in case studies of a few Brazilians municipalities which represents the differences and dimensions of a continental country.
