AVALIAÇÃO DOS SERVIÇOS DE SANEAMENTO NA REGIÃO METROPOLITANA DE BELÉM (RMB) USANDO O SISTEMA DE INFORMAÇÃO GEOGRÁFICA (SIG)

Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the performance of the coverage of sanitation services in municipalities in the Metropolitan Region of Belém (RMB) through the Geographic Information System (GIS). The methodology consisted of three main stages: initially, data from the National Sanitation Information System (SNIS) were consulted; subsequently, the rates of service to the population with water supply, sanitary sewage and solid waste collection services were calculated; in addition to the elaboration of thematic maps using the GIS tool. The results revealed a “REGULAR” sanitary condition with a score of 47.04% of attendance to sanitation services in the municipalities. The main problem was the sewage system due to the absence and/or low attendance to the population. Therefore, this sanitation axis should receive greater attention from the municipal public authorities, aiming to reverse the current situation of environmental degradation.

Bacharel em Engenharia Sanitária e Ambiental pela Universidade Federal do Pará - UFPA (2020). Mestre e doutorando pelo Programa de Pós-Graduação em Saneamento, Meio Ambiente e Recursos Hídricos (PPG-SMARH) pela Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais-UFMG (2023). Tem experiência na área de Engenharia Sanitária, com ênfase em saneamento ambiental, saneamento básico, sistemas de abastecimento de água, qualidade da água para consumo humano, gestão e gerenciamento de resíduos sólidos e líquidos com foco no tratamento de lixiviado de aterro sanitário, tratamento de efluentes industriais, além da participação em projetos de Educação Ambiental.

Possui graduação em Engenharia Sanitária e Ambiental pela Universidade Federal do Pará (2005), especialização em Engenharia de Segurança do Trabalho pela Universidade da Amazônia (2008), especialização em Geoprocessamento pela Pontifícia Universidade Católica de Minas Gerais (2021), mestrado em Engenharia Civil pela Universidade Federal do Pará (2010), doutorado em Engenharia de Recursos Naturais pela Universidade Federal do Pará (2015) e foi bolsista do Programa Nacional de Pós-Doutorado - PNPD/Capes (2016). Atualmente é professor Adjunto C3 da Universidade Federal do Pará, vinculado a Faculdade de Engenharia Sanitária e Ambienta (FAESA), ao Programa de Pós-Graduação em Engenharia Civil (PPGEC) e ao Programa de Pós-Graduação em Processos Construtivos e Saneamento Urbano (PPCS). Tem experiência nas áreas de Hidráulica, Hidrologia - hidrologia estatística, análise de séries temporais, aplicação de estatísticas multivariadas, detecção estatística de tendências - e Recursos Hídricos.
